St Joseph's caves: an unforgettable experience.

Have you ever seen an underground river that goes into the deep of a dark, but at the same time, unique and splendorous cave? This is what visitors can see if they go to VDU; a town located in the north of the VC, which is famous for its textile industry in the 60s thanks to S. Factory.

The itinerary lasts for 40' and the price is quite affordable. Inside the cave, there are different galleries and the visitor is on a boat with a guide that provides him with full explanations about the history of the caves, for instance, how the galleries were discovered and how speleologists managed to dig into the cave and break through the walls with dynamite and other volatile materials in order to make the whole tourist attraction more sailable and suitable for pedestrians since there is a part of the itinerary in which a trail must be walked along in order to get to the other side where the boat you departed on would be waiting for you.

Each gallery has its own history and story; please, do not confuse this two terms. History has to do with the study of the past of either a civilisation or a place in particular whereas story involves anecdotes related to the place itself. One of the most well known galleries is the gate of the squid because the shape of the stalactites on the ceiling looks like the tentacles of a squid.

Another thing one cannot miss is 'the devil', which is made up of three rocks looking like a devil with two powerful wings and claws. If one is imaginative enough, he/she can even devise a devilish face looking at you contemptuously.

If you want to explore and stare at the wonders of underground nature, do not think twice and stop limiting yourself with negative thoughts that do not go anywhere other than yourself destruction.
